very few survive 9to5 until 65, let alone 67-68. people die at work

most boomers who had good careers retired before they hit 60 and even their health had degraded badly. that's why they have risen retirement age over 65, governments know people wont survive so they dont have to pay pensions then. all they have to do is look statistics how many people die before 67 at their cubicle. those few who survive will be so bad shape health wise all their dreams about "finally free from cage now it's time for travel and leizure" that's just a silly thought

pickers who pick handful of stonks based on fundamentals etc. thats most braindead strat and has worst outcomes it is just basic statistics as 80% of stonks underperform indexes. still people do that even large funds.

If you want to get into algo trading, you're going to have to build your own platform from scratch. Trust me, that's the easy part. Building a warchest of robust strategies is the hard part.

Go study the Interactive Brokers' API and you'll see it's not as intimidating as you think.

I recommend building your own. That's what I did.

It's more effort than using MT4 but the benefit is that your platform will do any kind of trading you can imagine.

It'll also make it much easier to do backtests, play with strategy ideas, explore optimization spaces, automate portfolio construction and all the rest of it.
