If we're going to go by recent trends, it seems that while there are some suspicious sales and trading going on in the first page or so, there also seems to be people buying piecemeal and accumulating stacks through short term trading. There are 3 types of sales going back 4 hours:

1. Whales selling small amounts to a single address that holds no VIDT

2. People purchasing thousands at once

3. One address buying 10, 100, 11, 9, etc. amounts of VIDT but holds something like 200,000 VIDT.

While the type 1 trading does seem to occur, the evidence of other buys doesn't indicate that the whole market is being propped up by wash trading. As I said, my experience a week ago was buying in clumps of VIDT on IDEX because that was all that was available. It seems at least the type 3 address with 200,000 was also either in the same boat or were microtrading.

It could be we are both correct, I don't deny that some Whales are wash trading, because there is some evidence of fishy behaviour, but I also see genuine purchases as well and it's not all going to the 0.00 VIDT account which is a weird address to me.

I'm not disagreeing with you entirely in this thread, but the etherscans show that there is accumulation and price suppression going on as well.
