also you may not realize it but Bitcoin XT came about simply because of BTC's refusal to just fucking increase the blocksize in 2015. yes, the debate is that old. unlimited (a bitcoin cash full node implementation) derived from XT. however since the blocks still had room to grow XT didn't gain enough support, there were still hope that BTC would snap out of their stubbornness. however this time people have seen how dense BTC people are so bitcoin cash became a success.
