What are your thoughts on buying vs renting from a financial perspective, /biz/?
I have saved up a certain amount of money after living and working with my parents for two years and am looking at buying a condo in the city.
My plan would be to place a 20% down payment on the property and then pay off the mortgage in place of paying rent.
Is this a smart move? I view this as an investment. I want to protect my money from inflation, and the housing market in the city in which I live is never going to tank.
So, what do you think? Buy or rent? I’ll probably live there for 5 years at the most.
