I'm starting uni in september, I have some spare cash laying around and my bank offers buying into some index and regional funds for very small fees, I was thinking getting into something S&P related but since it took a massive shit yesterday not sure wat do, since my range is 3-4 years at most

>save up hella cash
>go buy car with a mechanic friend with decades of experience
>literally get the most boring and reliable and fuel efficient car you can get
>Mechanic friend checks it all over shits cash
>take the car home
>literally a month later problems start coming out
>sink most of my income into the piece of shit thinking It'll let me keep its re-sale value
>get offered 70% of what I paid for it several months later
>decline and laugh at that offer
>cars a total lemon by this point
>sink more cash into it
>be lucky to get anything as good as that 70% deal anymore

>start uni next semester
>have to find a place in a much bigger city
>can't find anything remotely close to school
>can't afford a decent place even with a roommate
>currently earn my living by doing a form of e-commerce which requires a rigid connection so the shared pipe in dorms won't do
