My dad is a degenerate gambler who blew hundreds of thousands of dollars playing scratch off lottery tickets and buying cars he couldn't afford. At one point he was so upside down on car payments that he ended up paying $800 a month for a Ford F150 until they eventually repossessed it. He also decided to stop paying the mortgage on the house and it nearly ended up being foreclosed until my mom stepped in to start paying for it.

At one point he was laid off from his Trucking job and received an $8,000 severance which he then decided to visit the casino and gamble away. He was literally feeding $100 bills into the vending machine and pulling the lever hoping to win. He is too much of a brainlet to play the card games like poker or blackjack. Ended up losing money on the whole trip.

There is nothing he could teach me about finances that I should listen to.
