There are a lot of examples of things like this: everything is FUBAR but people keep the lights on because it's how we're wired to behave. A dollar collapse wouldn't automatically lead to society collapse because society--which is a natural phenomenon--doesn't exist in things like money or government institutions--which are invented constructs.
