Does /biz/ watch the Bilderberg meetings? It might be an interesting way to make it in the stock market.

What if Samsung entered the home console business?

Why should Nintendo go third party, from an economic standpoint? Going software only didn't work well for Sega or Atari. The quality of Sonic games plummeted when Sega dropped out of the console race, and the only reason Sega isn't bankrupt right now is because of Sammy. Atari declared bankruptcy just last year. Sega had an ocean of unique and fun IPs when they were still in the console race. Now, all they make is Sonic. If Nintendo went third party, all they'd make is Mario, and OCCASIONALLY Zelda.

All value is time sensitive. When rating a store of value you have to consider how long its value will be retained over any given period of time.

Gold, for most of earth's history has been one of the best, as has intrinsic useful atomic properties, is mostly inert, and in recent years has stayed at a stable supply level so it has stayed about the same value over a great span of time. Gold already can be fabricated with particle accelerators, but the process takes days before you can see the results without a microscope. The technology to produce bars at will is at least 50 years into the future, but probably more like hundreds.

Currencies on the other hand have no intrinsic value, and are solely based on how popular they are, and in the case of fiat currencies, how trustworthy the governments issuing them are to pay back their debts tied to them. Storing your value in USD is dumb as you're guaranteed a loss over time, and storing it in BTC is risky, and like all risky investments, it could be potentially greatly rewarding, or potentially greatly detrimental, but why take that risk in something you plan to use as storage?

What's the /biz opinion on mass-buying and instant re-sell of brand new release day electronics? I heard a guy made a lot of money within the first couple weeks after release by buying (mostly he pre-ordered i think) a bunch of PS4s/Xbones and then ebay/amazon-ing them right away. You can do this with any major hyped product release of any type and aside from the logistics it's fairly simple.
