Theres no reason to not max out your roth. You can withdraw early without penalty. And you don’t pay capital gains on your gains when you withdraw them when you retire. This alone is worth it because you don’t have to fuck around with taxes.

401k is only useful I think if you make a lot of money. My marginal tax bracket is 40% so I max out my 401k as well and I plan to withdraw that money when I retire early and treat it like a yang gang freedom dividend. Because of the standard deduction you can withdraw 12200 without paying normal income tax. So my tax rate would only be 17% including the 10% penalty which is a lot better than the 40% plus I don’t pay any capital gains on what was earned. For normal people it doesn’t hurt to mix and match but I would avoid the 401k if you hardly make any money.

Take something like carpentry at community college, if you like working with your hands. You can buy a fixer upper and end up renting it out, and continue living like a NEET if it makes you happy.
