Has anyone thought of joining the military, staying for a few years, and then collecting VA disability when you get out? If you can get a 70% rating, that's at least $2240 a month tax free as of 2023. The only downside I can see is that if your disability is related to mental health, they might have a government wagie manage the funds from your disability check instead of you, and you wouldn't be allowed to own guns because you were officially "declared incompetent".
