Some great insights into the natural instintics we inherited from our caveman ancestors. And monkies and treeshews and that fish who decided to crawl into land (why did he do it bros?) All have some remaining influence hardwired into our bodies.

Elon said: people are how constrained, they start with a process they understand and look to tweak it and improve it a little. Elons great insight after he got rich was to ask "what do I actually want" (in his case it was to see humanity finally settle on another planet) and then figure out how to do that. It's a very different mindset. And almost no one has it obviously.
First you figure out what configuration do you want the atoms in, then you figure out how to put them there. Rockets are made out of some steel and some methane and bits of rubber and carbon. None of those things cost any money. It's all about how you put it together.
But very few people really sit down to think what they would really want things to look like if they had huge power to create.

I'm an oldfag who has had jobs at big companies.
It might be that you just don't know enough about what is necessary in those roles.
Read.

Build something useful and cool.
Look at what other rich people do, Bill Gates, Jeff Bezos, Roger Ver, especially based Elon.
He only cares about playing the civilization building game, requires interfacing with the cold hard reality of scientific truth, so people's wrong opinions can be defeated with evidence. And all of the social approval instinct attention seeking goes away as there is something larger to focus on. The hedonic treadmill actually gets you something in the end: a sweet car, a cool rocket, a machine that turns poopoopeepee into drinking water.
Also, watch this pretty video to be aware of how you instincs are sabotaging you in the modern age.

Read the Elon Musk book, he was in a very similar mental situation in his late teens.

If you'd like to stop being wrong, and stop basing your entire impression of Musk on your own jealousy and one cherry picked example which was dramatic enough to get filtered through the media to you; then try this is a fair and balanced biography of Musk, written by a guy who doesn't really like him (audiobook):
