I use combination of the two main Ichimoku cloud lines (kijun and kenkan) set to slightly longer than default periods. A volume indicator, and a two lines cross style indicator. Whether I use all in tandem or only two of the three depends on the style of stock. Commodities, for instance, do not play nice with my volume indicator so I don't use it on those stocks.

It's either good or bad depending on where the chart you're looking at is (say overbought or oversold conditions) and what the outlook is. High implied volatility doesn't mean anything about the strength of the trend, necessarily.
