anyone you'll be selling to will have a way to weigh and test the gold, so "recognizability" is irrelevant

the only real downside could be if someone only wants 24k to simplify refining; at that point though, all the Krugs, AGE's, Francs, and Sovs are screwed too

personally i stack anything between .900-.916 fine because i like fondling and don't think the 24k thing will ever be a real issue
