There was a time when billionaires didn't own nearly everything, where you'd go into your local town and see shops not closed, for any interest or hobby one might have, when you could buy a house on a McDonald's manager's salary and raise some kids. My brother actively did just that.
People had more to do with and the world was more vibrant and interesting to live in because riskier shops could still exist.
