You would claim it was an illusion, Aliens, blue beam, mass psychosis, an NDE or anything else to continue your sinful, prideful ways. The fact is nothing will make you happy, short of a complete removal of your free will. God will NEVER do that to you. You have the freedom to believe whatever you want, no matter how damaging. It takes a shedding of the ego to ask for help, for forgiveness of your transgressions against God and his creation, and to seek the Holy Spirit. Here's the kicker though: It's between you and God. Nobody is asking you to prostrate, naked and crying, infront of your Magic the Gathering club, begging for salvation. You can take a moment too pray daily, in the shower or before bed, to ask for wisdom and guidance, alone, and unmolested by the scoffers and the doubters. If it doesn't do anything for you, so be it, but I suggest you try. If you do it with an open heart and with sincerity you will be blessed. The most you have to lose is a moment or two of your time spent in quiet retrospection. Oh, the horror. Again, I love you, and wish you the very best.
