I know retired firefighters making $180k with yearly increases for the rest of their existence. If they're survived by their wife, then their wife gets it. The taxpayer is paying it. You'd have to have $5m invested in a 3.5% dividend etf/stock in order to get that much. Counties are going bankrupt because of these pensions and the beneficiary not dying lol. I should've been a firefighter. 2 weeks on hanging with the bros and 2 weeks off chilling doing whatever i want. Retire at 50. SHHHEEEEEEEEEIIIII

so, are typical dividend companies/ETFs a good investment strategy?

Lately i've seen people say dividend investing is for retards and you should rather invest in growth stocks, and they cite dividend irrelevance, which seems to have been taken out of context. from what i've read, dividend irrelevance is just a theory that says there's really no difference in the value of the company if it decides to pay a dividend or not.

on the other side, someone said dividend investing is for retards, and cite "the income factory" as the best investment strategy, wherein dividend yield is what matters, not growth, so it's better to have mixed investments that have good cashflow, such as covered call ETFs, REITS, bonds, etc.

I like the idea of dividend investing since i can just eat the eggs without selling the chicken, but is this an inferior long term strategy?

>There’s more money to be made owning a majority of the available properties and renting them for higher prices
this is probably not true, and just some random belief you decided to hold based on your current feelings.
>less housing = more money
housing is expensive because of a decade+ of low interest rates, the recent surge currency printing, and companies are probably still hesitant to build residential homes after the 2008 crash.

>Contracts are awarded with a set amount of approved hours and no margins on materials so the companies are inclined to use every single hour
I work for a paving company, and I've never heard of this type of contract. We do a fair amount of public works projects too. What you're talking about must be for a specific city or maybe state that issues the contracts.
