Depends entirely on the market.
Usually like 3 months. I switched over using VIX as a hedge some time ago. Usually 3 months. ~30 strike. I dont really plan on them ever being useful unless we really dump. There might be better strategies but thats what worked for me so far

Essentially just tracking the US treasury market.
Yields go up, ETFs drop, yields go down ETFs go up.
They are pretty much my savings account. They move up like 4/5/6% a year, not doing much. Unless we crash like we did back in March, where they shoot up.

Id honestly tell you to just buy 100 QQQ and write covered calls for a month to get a feel for what works for you. 6% OTM, monthly, close at appropriate level of gains. Boring as fuck but profitable.
