double spends don't mint tokens retard. mints are mints, double spends are double spends. BTC had an minting bug, often called the inflation bug, and no one ever called it a double spend. ETH had not one, but two minting bugs. nobody called those double spends. it's well agreed that ETH and BTC have never had incidents of double spending, because minting bugs are completely different and are caused by completely different mechanisms. see pic, see how no bitcoin is minted?

the dev team updated the validator software on github and then validators downloaded and installed it on their nodes. exactly the same process as any other update to validator software. if that's 'centralized' then by that logic literally every crypto, including BTC, is centralized.
