I don't do reversal plays like that. You wait out the drop and the initial rebound, buy on first consolidation period of the rebound, put a stop loss (or watch it and manually sell) below the consolidation range. This is essentially how I approach all swing trades. The goal is to capture the middle 50-80% of a given move. It's critically important that you do not attempt to make contrarian plays against the long term trend. Do no try long likes this on something that has a long term trend of flat range or gentle slope downwards. Long term trend gives you some buoyancy to the price action and some legitimate support. If you are trading long term bearish stocks your trades should be shorts.
