for the ultimate example (that i know of anyway), look into Big Burrito Group - its a pittsburgh based company that owns like 50+ restaurants but almost all of them are under different branding from each other while serving a lot of the same ingredients - same steak, different sauce basically.

theres way more than shown here and many of them are in the same cuisine category - for example Mad Mex has like 5 or 6 locations, but its an older style table-service restaurant, and of late they've just been opening a bunch of "independent" taco shops under various names - Bul River Taco, Paco's Tacos, etc like that - that are just counter service

ive literally heard people talk about like "oh should we go to bul river or paco's" which is hilarious because they're literally the exact same fucking place owned by the exact same company with different decor.

theyre also able to shuffle around employees as needed between their various properties which gives them more flexibility vs independent restaurants

i kind of hate it because it takes even the notion of "quirky independent restaurant" away from independent restaurants lol
