If you want the most speed for your dollar, R35 GTRs are a performance bargain, I've worked on lots of them and done some turbo upgrades on them and also just basic mods. The car itself doesn't much appeal to me though as I think V6es are gay. AMGs are badass, can't go wrong with any of them. BMWs are also fast as fuck these days and have huge aftermarket to make them faster. Can't go wrong with an M3 or M5 depending on the size of car you want. Or M2 if you want a 2 door.
