I have a friend who wounds me deeply. He is the smartest man I know (very successful lawyer), but has the most normie beliefs imaginable. By this I mean everything he believes is average, par for the course, exactly what we're expected to believe.

I think it's because all he reads are fantasy and sci-fantasy books. I can't get through to him on anything that isn't supported by the mainstream.
