I'm pretty out-of-the-loop with Cryptocurrencies but I dipped my toe into Bitcoin at the end of last year and sold in December and tripled my gains just before the market crashed. I remember when Bitcoin was at $20,000 USD, and now it's at $6,800 USD. I'm seeing both sides of the argument when it comes to the survivability or future relevance of Bitcoin and cryptocurrencies as a whole.

The first side is saying that Bitcoin is completely dead and that in order for the market to grow it must have the trust and interest of its user base, both of which have rapidly declined thanks to the combination of factors such as the major drop in which most people sold (whether you think they were foolish to sell before the crash instead of holding or not is irrelevant) tied together with the negative media coverage and the entire Bitconnect incident.

The second side is saying that drops are always to be expected and that Bitcoin was only worth a few hundred dollars 1 year ago so for people to complain that it is "only" worth $6,800 right now is greedy and misguided. They also point out that whatever low the crash ends up falling to, it will merely serve as an opportunity for people to buy in when the price is low and give them a chance to make the sort of gains (or better) that the rest of us got to make when buying at any point during 2017.

What are your opinions on this /biz/? Do you think Bitcoin will just devolve into nothingness or do are you leaning to the theory that it will instead provide people with an opportunity to buy at a low price again and make fat gains if the value goes up again?
