I do understand that my shortcomings are my own. My IQ is 138, just short of being really smart. Everything I ever attempt comes up just short or I am the second one to do it.

Why bother if you weren't born exceptional? Why even live if your just going to be another one of the billions of people on earth not doing anything really worth while. You can bullshit yourself into thinking what you do is important or that your hedonism make you "happy" but as soon as the highs wear off and you are alone with yourself that sinking feeling of being nothing will be there.

Life is pain and mediocrity we mask it with vidya, books, intellectual masturbation. Procrastinate with "self-improvement", why improve yourself if you are not going to be the best.

>inb4 be the best you, you can be

Literally the slogan of armed forces known to manipulate people into being complacent.

We have reached an era where only the truly exceptional with have real lives and the standard for exceptionalism is growing everyday.

There is fundamentally no difference between a high-school dropout and a PhD holder who has not advanced his/her field. The only difference is the false sense of superiority both are worker bees working to produce honey for others. One calls himself educated and gets off with higher forms of escapism the other gets drunk. Both are nobodies.
