I'm shocked that the "laypeople" you have spoken to have even the slightest idea about gold one way or another. Half of Americans still think that the dollar is backed by gold. You simply are not going to convince them that they need to flee the debt bubble and take refuge in hard assets because the average person is totally absorbed by whatever shit the mainstream media is shoveling.

Are you looking for someone to make a case for gold to rise in dollar valuation in the next few years? Because I don't think anyone can make that prediction and I'm about as bullish about gold as one can be.
