Put both of these into a DCF Model, project it into the future, and it shits on the present value of assets, thus driving stock prices downward. Boom, The NASDAQ is down 30 fucking %, how rich do you feel? wanna buy a new car? spend money? Probably not. Slowing the economy further. People feel poorer, this can spiral into recession.
