I live like this and I’m from a low middle class American family with no connections. I went to a state school and never networked, never cared. One day as I approached graduation, after never interning and working at a grocery store to pay rent on the place I lived in with my buddies (none of which were in college), I decided I should try to get a job and start my career. I entered an email list from a admin at my school who sent out opportunities with local companies. I randomly selected one that was a contractor role with a Fortune 500 company that has local office. Surprisingly got the job after I Googled majority of answers on phone interview and nailed in person (I am high IQ, good looking, polite, white). Within 6 months I got hired as an employee and have more or less lived like that guy for 7 years except for the past 3 years, I am full remote while previously I was hybrid.

It’s possible if you’re intelligent and lucky, I think.
