I just accepted a 1-year contract for an internal IT position. At every stage of the process, the team leads and managers confirmed that there were no full-time positions in the pipeline, but "maybe a year from now".

The afternoon that I accepted the offer, they posted up two new postings for full-time positions. The exact same job and title that I accepted, just full-time. What the fuck.

Would it be awkward if I applied? I feel like it would start me off on the wrong foot with my new boss. But I feel like I'm getting absolutely fucked here - if I go for it, I'm making a bad first impression, if I just wait, I'm taking a huge risk towards my livelihood.
