im assuming you invested into ETH because you believe in smartcontracts, if you believe in smart contracts you have to invest in chainlink also. chainlink enables those smart contracts to grab data from the real world compared to just tokens in the crypto world. in a sense, ETH's are pointless if you want to do more then just trade tokens

I bought at 17 cents in oct-nov 2017.
This anons post convinced me combined with the fact that chainlink had a working product already; was unfuddable, and all the other freaky connections. I just knew LINK was going to be the reason for crypto adoption on a wide scale and the next paradyme shift. It is the next ether unironically.

We're all going to make it. See you on the moon brothers.

I am a jew though so feel free to hate on me.

What's important is not that a bank can make their own oracle to work with this or that blockchain in order to execute smart contracts. What's important is that they can make an oracle that works in a decentralized fashion with any blockchain so nobody has to take the bank at their word.

A decentralized oracle network allows many people who don't know each other to do business without first establishing trust. Chainlink accomplishes this because it aimed at accomplishing decentralization from the beginning, not just an oracle.

There will undoubtedly be both competitors and innovators, as we see with Bitcoin and Ethereum. However, Chainlink is first to market with a working product, security audited, and real world clients in queue waiting to get to work. And because of the ZeppelinOS partnership, pretty much all new Ethereum projects that need oracles will be using Chainlink whether they like it or not.

Hard to argue that Chainlink won't be around for a while.

SWIFT is a huge international banking messenging system working with a network of 12,000 international banks to clear billions of dollars of transactions every day. SWIFT chose Chainlink to develop their 'oracle service', which essentially is going to allow SWIFT to send messages to blockchains and execute payments and other financial contracts (think derivatives, bond & interest payments, and anything else) using the Chainlink network. Chainlink developed a proof of concept for them last year which took in data from the biggest finance firms in the world (Barklays, Fidelity, and a few others) and passed it through the oracle and interact with the SWIFT system. That's who these guys work with.

The founder of Docusign (https://www.docusign.com/)) is on their board and will be a client. This is huge because Docusign processes more electronic contracts than anyone. Docusign wants to make a big first move and let their contracts trigger events anywhere in the world. Think about how general a 'contract' is.

The director of blockchain engineering at Facebook is an advisor.

They are a member of the IC3, along with a small handful of other names like IBM, Microsoft, JP Morgan, and others. They only work with pros.

Basically, when Chainlink goes live, their first clients are going to be major banks and finance companies. I can direct you to more evidence of major partnerships as well.

Here is a talk the CEO gave recently explaining the basic concepts and the applications: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uDHumZC8VsU (Again, notice the focus on finance and connecting blockchains to real-world finance).
