Variable water lines are a factor of an overused die was showing wear around the 50s. I can't remember how many sets of dies there were, but there are a few that were at use in the mint long enough to see several variations on the water lines get pressed into circulation.
The area to pay attention to is at the fore and aft of the canoe. You can compare the lines in the water between the island and the water line. In your pic, the 52 coin has reduced water lines. I see only one. The 62 and 63 each have three water lines, unsurprisingly. I don't remember the exact date they mostly stopped entering circulation, but I suspect it was around 1958 with the release of the death dollar comem.

It's a good idea to get at least a little familiar with your locals in case you neeeeeeed to liquidate for whatever reason. Having a local who knows you like some niche thing (like CSDs for example) can be a boon.
I've never really found a deal relative to spot price, but I have found more than a few relative to numismatic baseline.

Oh nice. Rare goose!
There is a variety of the goose called diving goose where the orientation of the reverse is rotated. Those vary in degree of rotation and go for big money the further off center they get. Rarest geese.

1969 is a post-silver year. Please allow me to consult my references.
>Reduced Size, Nickel (1968-1987)
> The Voyageur reverse returned to the dollar coin for 1968, again paired with the Queen Elizabeth's tiara portrait. Major changes had been made, however, to the size and composition of the coin. Silver was eliminated from the nation's circulating coinage, and replaced with pure nickel for the dollar.

For 68's if it's silver it will still ping. It will sound just a little duller. Nonsilver ones fail magnet tests.
50% silver is still silver, although I understand not wanting to pay more.
>>53518676
>the only way you can prove you have a 80% is from a proof set
I did get many of my 67 proof sets in a bulk buy from someone online that was selling them as though they were 50%. Bought their whole inventory.

Thank you for chiming in with that. Have a (You).
It was nice having some degree of expertise in a niche of coin collecting/silver stacking but since the Queen passed I fear the good deal days are done. It's probably not going to stop me stacking CSDs, but my eyes are wandering towards Krugs now.

Glad you liked it, Holo. Can I call you Holo? I should be careful what I call you actually. Hallow, Hollow, Hoe-Low. Not sure the phonemes.
I tried watching that holowolf the wizeass. Didn't much care for the church bashing, but then again, there's quite a lot not to like about the church. Anyway, it's the gospel that matters.
I think you missed one of the tags in the cap.
I am really, really looking forward to crushing Canada.

>>53337326
Very comfy, thanky. Nice stack. Of the Apu and the WAGMI, which one would you prefer to make into a hammered coin?
I should do something with Mercs.
The meme magic around the Mercs brigade is interesting, it attempts to take a money god Mercury and make it about love. Or in this case, buying a wife.
You can never really buy love, though. I will remake the rules of love.
Lets try this instead: If you have any Mercs, take any number of them and lose them. Leave them in take a penny leave a penny, drop a few at the side of the road, leave a stack of them under a Bible, whatever you like. Lose them from you. No penalty if you don't. Wealth to come if you do.
>>53338150
Hi, PANMAN. I like you. Can I give you a gift?
>>53338531
King coins are class acts! Love my kings! Love my Kings! I have many mint sets, a mug full of quarters, several of my favourite coins. I want more, of course, I always want more.
If you think I might be going places in this life, and if you think I have an appetite for coins like the ones you like, which do you think may be a good investment?
If you do maxbuy silver, do this as a consideration for me: lose at least one coin and give away at least one other.

Has anyone actually made a hammered coin yet? I might try making one of a CSD. I would not mind a return to the old days, but even those were corrupted. How far back do you need to go, really? How far back do you need to go?

Don't you dare melt that block! It's more valuable as a set.
I can easily trade you a mint set in the original envelope for the block if you'd rather. I have several.
I also have some in the vinyl with the 67 sterling centennial medals.
I am somewhat obsessed with the Canadian 67 sets.

There's a big coincidence with the queen dying and then the pound taking a pounding. It's almost like this was all planned, and the milkshake thing is just a cover story.
Don't forget one of their goals is to roll out a CBDC, and quite possibly one prior step is to equalize all the western currencies. They already had euro=dollar working pretty good, now it's the pound's turn. Maybe they'll have to "fix" canada and autralia too, unless they already are.

You don't really need that gadget, you can just use another coin to strike the surface like he does here:
https://youtu.be/2ymGAyKAg-k
But if you're willing to spend some money, get a precision scale (at least 2 decimal places), some calipers to measure precise dimensions, and a neodymium magnet like he uses in this video:
https://youtu.be/NgSXg-WOEVY
You should also try to find some high resolution photos of the same coin, to compare to the one you have, and hopefully they also list the exact weight in grams and dimensions in mm.
If you do all these test (ping, magnet, weight, dimensions, visual check) then you'll know exactly what you have.
It could also be useful to find some books and coin catalogs like pic. You can probably even find PDFs online.

Leaf junk is great. I have pounds of the stuff. I've been a collector before I was a stacker and it's been my focus.
Will it get collectible like burger 90%? I don't think so. Not to the same degree. There are a few popular dollars that are already collectible, 1949 boats, 1958 death Dollar, the 1935 originals, the 1939 parliament, and the rarer years of 1936 and 37 and the granddaddy 1948 with less than 20k minted. The 64 dollars are less popular, the 67 dollars are popular but akin to the Kennedy 1964 halves were minted at the time silver was pulled and so hoarded.
Even so the dollar coins are great. They feel like money. They often have a warmer overall tone than 90%. The largest minting was 1965 with over 10m. It was minted in excess due to the new QE2 portrait.
I should just make a graphic of Canadian junk already. I've posted this info enough times.
>>50156842
This anon has a point. All Canadian silver under three nines fine is taxed so it's harder to hoard locally. It doesn't get taxed internationally though so a lot of it gets sucked up into the US.
