Ok, stay calm. There’s a few things you are going to want to know before your day in Kleros court. It’s an intimidating process, but it is made much easier if you have the help of someone like me who has been through the system. Naturally, you’ll have to fly out to India for the actual trial. This will be at your own cost, but if you win the case you’ll get a free curry at the courthouse restaurant, so there is an element of fairness built into the system in this way. When you show up you’re going to be given a seat at the top of the courtroom. There will be 10 jurors drawn from the finest colleges in India. They will occasionally pelt you with whatever bits of trash, shit, and detritus they picked up off the road on the way to the trial, but this is a test, and if you pass it it actually bodes well for the outcome of the trial. Your lawyer will be assigned to you, and you’ll need to give him about 200 PNK not to throw the case. The jury will also need to be given about 10 PNK each. This will ease the process considerably and will likely swing it in your favour, unless the other party pays them more, in which case you’ll need a bit of luck and some quick thinking. You’d better hope that the trial is over within the day, because you’re going to be kept in a cell overnight otherwise, even if you are only there to settle a contractual dispute with a painter who didn’t finish your living room or a graphic designer who messed up your company logo. The cells are a nightmare, and you’ll need about 250 more PNK to pay to sleep in the non-designated shitting cells, which constitute pretty much every cell anyway. All going well you won’t need to do this. The actual trial should be over fairly quickly, and they’ll let you go if you’re in the right. If they rule against you, you’ll be sent to Kleros jail.
