Who gives a shit when graduates earn twice as much

>>13526013

You learn loads most the time, especially if you're a strong student

>learn whatever your major is of course
>massively improve time management
>how to argue properly, using evidence and the importance of objectivity
>I never met anyone smarter than me before college, and it taught me modesty and that there's always a bigger fish
>similarly made me less bothered about competing and more bothered about working together and getting shit done
>internships and connections couldn't get otherwise
>status symbol and proper respect from older people
>and of course, the highly paid job at the end (for most people I'm starting a PhD)

>Anon 56% of Americans that start college drop out and go back to that list of things.
Dropouts obviously aren't the same as graduates

>Even when you do, most majors do not have starting salaries that outpace trades + experience.
You make more graduating high school and becoming an electrician's apprentice (45k first year, going up to 65k fourth year, then you "graduate" and become a journeyman making 70k a year) than you would with over half the degrees offered by colleges (no money at all those four years and starting at 45k a year after graduation, plus no work experience).
Literally just wrong. Median income for the very best paying trades (all ages) is 55k... below (barely) the absolute crappiest college jobs like teacher
https://www.bls.gov/oes/2017/may/oes_nat.htm

>College is statistically not worth it for most Americans
Completely fucking wrong if you finish

Ignore the retards on biz, borderline everyone is a neet larping retard. Literally just look up the statistics. Average debt is 30k, average earning increase over life is about 1 million.

Everyone who suggests something will just flat out lie, the best paying job you can get without it is a plumber and that's still below the crappest paying college grad jobs such as a hs teacher after considering debt and lost earnings on us census.

Explain this retarded fucking meme. I grew up in a shithole and basically no one had a degree, at a good college now and the vast majority of people clearly came from middle class and above families. Most people who left after 3 years (I'm still on) have had no problem getting a good job, and looking at old high school friends in Facebook everyone who didn't go is broke.

Is it literally just pushed by neet dropouts?

Both sides are massively, massively exaggerated in opposite ways. The whole idea trades would pay well with no major drawbacks just doesn't make any sense when they're much easier to do hence more supply.

I'm not saying it's bad or good I'm asking why is the difference in income between jobs so huge? Pic related shows average grad earnings are double just finishing high school, in the UK it's probably only 50 percent more.

The issue with all this shit is it doesn't agree with reality. People who go to uni earn approx double, have a net worth FAR higher, the earnings difference is actually getting larger despite memetards saying it's getting less relevant. You can look up individual jobs (plumber/electrician) and the best paying non college jobs only match bachelor's, and obviously once you count only stem masters at good university the difference becomes huge again

So why is it on biz most people are the exception to the rule and most threads everyone is a loser. My best guess is larping

How fucking dumb can you be to think that means there's no degree requiring jobs?

Borderline every proper job requires a degree, subject doesn't matter much. People don't get stem degrees to only work in stem, most do it cause it's the basic requirement for a proper job now

Didn't read past the first line. Everyone who was vaguely successful knows good colleges are free if you're parents are normal, and if they're rich who cares.

Although even if it wasn't it pays itself of instantly. Is there anyone here who isn't a brainlet failure?

America the rich are much richer but the poor are much poorer, UK/Canada/Australia are the same thing.

Basically, if you're an Oxford graduate America is by far the best, a minimum wage worker don't even consider it.

Blatantly wrong. Just cause you couldn't graduate doesn't mean you should drag everyone down with you.
