People dont want to live in apartments because even if they 'buy' their apartment or flat they are on a leasehold which runs out. If it goes under 80 years banks will not lend money to buyers for the flat and the flat becomes un-sellable and the seller is thrown off the housing ladder.

In the UK you never truly own a flat or apartment, you're just renting them long term from the building owner. You also get fucked with maintenance fees of over 12,000 bong coins per year as well as ground rent for the property.

This in turn raises housing prices for shitty deanoboxes because any intelligent person does not want to pay hundreds of thousands of pounds for the alternative mentioned above.

yes, our housing market is fucked and propped up by huge companies like barretts and government backed scams like part ownership and help to buy, which are churning out less and less equity for the average person. The problem is that buildable land in the UK (while being able to maintain the UK countryside) is incredibly limited and we are piling in an unsustainable amount of immigrants in to our tiny island. Decreasing wages and increasing demand for housing and therefore raising housing prices even higher.
