How does Link fit into this DeFi Yield farming?

It came from nowhere. regular DeFi had a clear use case for Link but Yield farming i cant wrap my head around. It seems like a clever ponzi scheme which works in blockchains own boundaries and doesn't need any Oracles as such.

Is that a sign of irrelevancy for Link or will this Yam sushi YFi shit be a flash in the pan when people realise there is no real usecase for it in this current form?
