No. You can't use CBDCs for illegal commerce.

>the network would basically become unusable. the only reason monero works right now is because the network is small and has hardly any use. imagine trying to get normies to mass adopt something that requires a download database file thats got more GB of data than their entire hard drive

Normies will never use crypto at scale because they'll be too busy enjoying the convenience and ubiquity of CBDCs, the future of crypto is the permissionless shadow economy.

Those with their freedom and indeed lives on the line speak with greater authority than those with less to lose.

>Holy shit NOBODY CARES ABOUT THE DARKNET.

See, the problem is that as the frontline in the war of Surveillence State vs Privacy Tech the darknet has considerable influence on setting best practices standards for general OPSEC-critical applications, people with their freedom on the line speak with a lot more authority than those with less to lose.

So the darknet's endorsement of Monero over Bitcoin will have far-reaching consequences in the near-future as privacy and fungibility become evermore critical in light of the Surveillence State's increasingly onerous regulations. See Canadian Truckers Bitcoin fiasco.

TL;DR: Bitcoin will keep losing real-world market share to Monero well-beyond the darknet as legalities and blacklisting make using/holding non-fungible coins the riskier proposition.

Your purchase and IP address will be recorded but once you enter the Monero ecosystem and providing you remain there, you're safe.
