Crypto is highly volatile therefore it's pointless to hold long term. That has been the case since 2017. It has crashed and recovered many times. Most people fail to realise that the high volatility is the goldmine. It's decentralised therefore it's more vulnerable to manipulation than centralised assets. That ensures high volatility which means many opportunities to profit. It's not a scam if you know when to buy and sell.

It can also not be shutdown as it's decentralised. The worst that can happen is that hackers find and exploit a bug in the code that can crash the price without recovery. Such as generating coins. Even if that happens, another crypto will emerge with updated security.

TLTR: Buy during bear market, sell during bull market.
