The first mover's advantage is only that. An advantage. It can be overcome, and Monero has just done that. DNMs and grey markets (practically the only real usecase of cryptocurrencies as of right now) are using Monero. Bitcoin lost the first mover's advantage, and now Monero has the market leader advantage.
>inb4 mass adoption
I won't be harsh with you and say that mass adoption is a pipedream, but consider what is mass adoption. It is new markets getting confronted with the choice of cryptocurrencies and choosing Bitcoin. Now why would they do that? Monero is faster, cheaper, private, anonymous, has less volatility, doesn't require KYC to buy, easy to use. Literally Dogecoin is better to use as a cryptocurrency than Monero.
>but muh liquidity
Liquidity is secondary and will always come in response to demand. The only reason Bitcoin can have more liquidity than its real demand is speculation, which will both inflate prices and induce volatility making it a worse choice than Monero for adoption.

>There never will be a decentralised network as secure as Bitcoin, attacking it is just too expensive at this point.
Hashrate =/= network security. Not resisting ASICs has made Bitcoin hashrate cheap as fuck, governments could literally order warehouses worth of hashrate, while the same can't be said for Monero. Si if you calculate the actual numbers, Monero is close to having the same security despite being a way lower security budget and orders of magnitudes lower market capitalization. I don't know, but it's definitely food for thought.

Network effect is an effect and not a determinant, it can and has been overcome by Monero. Network effect is simply the effect that people prefer accepted and used stuff over the opposite, but it does not mean they will not switch.

If you take controllable and surveilled hashrate, Monero is much more resilient then Bitcoin. Also this doesn't change the fact the introduction of ASICs will make a network weaker. As a network gets bigger, the hashrate will increase alongside it, ASIC resistant hashing algorithms will avoid what BTC's hashrate has done.
