People in high paying jobs might be good at that one job (or not) but that doesn't mean that they can easily adapt to new information and use it properly (even within that job).

I asked my eye doctor the other day why this new brand of contacts was very hard to take out of my eyes because they were so slippery. He said he didn't know, so I asked if it had anything to do with the moisture content of this specific brand, and what effect that might have. His brain basically malfunctioned and he sperged out that I didn't know what I was talking about, wtf.

I asked my dentist the other day since one of my canine's was completely flat, and he said I was grinding it, how much of that grinding was recently vs over years, he said there was no way to know. I asked if he could measure it now and then measure it next time I'm there to see if it's a problem I should worry about or no big deal. He seemed confused as fuck.
He said that wasn't how that worked and that no tool was precise enough to do that because it would be less than a millimeter. So I was like, cheap digital calipers have an accuracy of a hundredth of a mm, are you saying there is no dental tool that isn't at least that accurate? He also sperged out. I said if he developed one then he'd make million of dollars. These people aren't smart.

This is what happens when you hold debit spreads for stocks that go up a ton like TSM, the value actually goes DOWN due to IV from the short leg strike being ATM.

TSM goes up and the value of the spread temporarily goes down. I have to wait for the IV crush and theta decay to happen and then I actually start making money.

This pattern translates to +60% late November.

With a fractional reserve rate of 10%, if you put $100 into the bank, the bank is required to only hold 10% of that in actual cash. They then can loan out $90 to someone else, that person deposits that in a bank, and now there are $190 dollars in the system.

It doesn't end there though because then whatever bank gets the money from the second person can loan out 90% of that $90 ($81) to someone else, etc, etc. Eventually that $100 deposited in the bank initially becomes $1000 real dollars in people's bank accounts that are very much real, and backed by the US government.

The US previously had a reserve rate of 10% but due to covid they reduced it to 0, so now $100 can become infinity dollars (other nations have alternatives like paying interest to banks to hold reserves, it's kind of similar).

The same goes for short interest apparently, when it comes to brokers lending shares around creating "imaginary shares". Might be catastrophic one day, might not, who knows, but there's a reason we implemented reserve rates in the first place .

What will probably happen is there will be be restrictions on a broad classification of apps and rules to prevent apps that are danger to national security, and every app provider in the US will be expected to comply with these rules, the same way they are expected to comply for any other illegal content. I imagine it will be far reaching and kind of bullshit and also get a bunch of gacha games banned that probably don't deserve it.

Basically TikTok ban will lead to some legislative events where you should temporarily short apple.
