What's going to happen when people can't afford rent? government benefits run out and some jobs won't come back. are we going to double our homeless population?

anyway, I told my landlord I will pay him half rent on may 1st. He said he would call the sheriff on me and have me out in two weeks time

>"listen, david, the courts are backed up right now. I'm not even sure if they're evicting people, but you and I both know it's going to take months to evict me. so you can either accept my half rent check on may 1st or nothing at all"

>i started to repeatedly say i was sorry for being rude but its the truth
>he gets in his car and rolls down his window
>"I have 16 tenants and half of you guys aren't able to pay me in may. this is ridiculous!"
>i begin to shake my head
>"david, correct me if im wrong, but you're a millionaire right?"
>he smirks
>"then what's the big fucking deal? you have no debts, you have no major expenses, what's the problem?"
>he tells me he worked hard for his money and that he's not running a charity
>i tell him it's the worst pandemic since the spanish flu and he needs to at least act reasonably

he rolled up his window but i ran up to the car and knocked. he rolled it down screaming "WHAT?! WHAT DO YOU WANT!?"

I begin to cry and tell him I'm sorry i can't afford rent but the situation is beyond my control. he sorta of relents and says this

I said "david, dont you think that's kind of racist?" he said if it wasn't for dumb black people he wouldn't be a millionaire. admittedly we both laughed. So what do i do now? how can i get this other half the rent?

I can't afford rent on May 1st. The stimulus package will pay for aprils rent. my landlord said if I get behind more than a month he's going to evict me.

he's 83 years old, a millionaire, with no children or wife and only two buildings to look after. why can't he just let me have a month or two free? I seriously want to die right now.

16 million are unemployed, lets say it gets to 30 million unemployed.

Thats 32/157 which is 20 percent of the population not working. also take in to account people who are underemployed right now and the people who are making less because they have to pay for childcare

Should I feel bad for landlords because of the pandemic? they don't really do anything anyway. shouldn't they have had money saved just in case a renter cant make rent anyway? they make good money, what's the problem?
