You're right. I don't view numismatic items as an investment, and they are only considered more valuable if you have a collector that is willing to pay more than what you bought it for. With that being said, there is a difference between stacking and coin collecting, but you can do both. If I had the money to drop right now, I would buy an escudo that would cost me 3 times its melt value. Why? Because I want it and they are cool.

For me, it's the escudo. If you all are interested in salivating, I recommend reading about recovered shipwrecks. It's really interesting how governments like Spain can claim ownership of bullion shipwrecked hundreds of years ago, and the sheer amount of gold they find sometimes. Hnng
