Tether needs to produce these records, which they obviously cannot do if they're a scam. They need to prove someone is giving them $400,000,000 USD almost every single day, and that they have this money in a bank account somewhere.

Exchanges accept Tether because a) they are directly controlled by Tether, like Bitfinex, Poloniex, etc. OR they have been paid huge amounts of Tether to accept USDT (Binance). Coinbase is the only relatively honest exchange and it makes up only 10% of all volume.
