Even most dollfags/robowaifu fags still want to simulate emotions. It's the key part of Chobits and AI development; they want someone to be programmed to believably love them and do everything they say. Rei isn't like this, she doesn't show programmed love. She may as well not open her mouth and just lay down and be a heated doll.
Of course people like Rei offline will still seek out people to shower them with love and attention to fill the empty part of themselves, but I don't see what Rei helps them with this. Rei is not them nor is rei receiving the attention they desire.
