The problem is going to be when the crash comes and everyone flees into tether, spiking the price, and then everyone tries to cash out their tether while the underlying assets are tanking. Unless the tether people have a really solid plan in place (ie, they're up to their eyeballs in puts and short positions), they'll implode.
