Here we see the US numbers have only barely changed their rate.

The model projects a million total cases. The total population of gays in the us is like ~20 millions which sounds like a reasonable estimate. 1/20 will get the Monkepox

I still don't know how to think of the parameters in the model, but I kinda view the (a) parameter as proportional to how many partners US queers come into contact with. I think the (b) parameter is a time constant for transmission.
