Stocks: random, or predictable? and why? just saw a thread talking about passive investing vs. active trading and im curious what the general consensus on /smg/ is.

trader here. after learning about shit like the great depression and the 2008 financial crisis and with all of the political shit going on currently i think long term investing is foolish at best. the great depression literally happened because everyone thought the stock market would only ever go up. the housing bubble happened because people thought real estate prices could only go up. look at what fucking happened there, fuck that shit. also you're not goddamn motherfucking warren buffet and this is not the 1950's, fuck off.
