I only started trading on bitmex last week, literally because I learned muh self on what a stop loss fucking was and how to use them. I figured the same as what some other posters said, high leverage and tight stops so as to reduce your risk to almost nothing, while exposing yourself to potentially massive upside.

In practice, this is harder than it initially seemed to me on paper. When I do high lev trades and set my stop losses extremely tight accordingly (like $2-3 from entry price), it usually wicks up & down just slightly enough to hit my stop and then continue in the desired direction after my position’s already closed.

But that’s obvious; I’m starting to use lower leverage and thinking that maybe somewhere in the 10-25x range would be ideal, with slightly more forgiving stop losses plus a bit more effort in some TA beforehand to determine a more intentional entry.

Had some fun shorting the past few days even though I ended up somewhat in the red, but am currently sitting on a 2x long with most of my stack from like 6300. Comfy
