very close, it really depends on the amount of different elements in the fluid that comes up with the magma, usually you just end up with minerals like galena, sphalerite, tetrahedrite or higher grade minerals like silver / gold tellurides but extremely pure brines can generate some incredible metallic crystals. Were not totally sure though how the process actually works underground, pressure drops have to be near instantaneous for some of these crystals to form.

yea the "Original six" as the guys there call it is one of the worlds leading gold ore sample mines, it used to run as a fully operating gold mine up until i think 2001 when the state told them to shut down and than told them they could reopen with massive new restrictions. Now the miners there follow the massive meters with milk quartz veins for pockets of visible gold. Some of that ore averaged over 900oz per tonne gold, some of the richest ore in north america. Would love to go and visit that place some time.

its incredibly rare in nature, you need a really pure fluid mix to allow native gold elements to grow like this. One good example that generates dendritic gold like this is the 16 to 1 mine in California, they have several hundred examples of super enriched quartz with gold leafs and branches growing right from the veins when blasted. This was likely grown in a lab.
