It has no function as anything. It is a token that does nothing but hide its price action via supply correction. THAT'S IT. Instead of the price fluctuating, it's the supply.
But what you retards fail to understand is, this has ABSOLUTELY NO EFFECT on the risk profile of this coin. It doesn't matter if the price hovers around $1 forever, the fact that the rebases take/destroy tokens from your wallet MEANS YOU HAVE JUST AS MUCH EXPOSURE HOLDING THIS AS YOU WOULD ANY OTHER SHITCOIN.

There's no magical compounding with AMPL. You simply make money on market cap increase instead of price increase, that's it.

Example:
Buy 1K LINK at 1$. Net worth = 1K
LINK goes up 15%. Net worth = 1.15K (+150$)
LINK goes up 15%. Net worth = 1.32K (+170$)
LINK goes up 15%. Net worth = 1.52K (+200$)
LINK goes up 15%. Net worth = 1.75K (+230$)

You see where this is going? Every time your coin pumps 15% in price, the gain is "compounded" onto your previous gains, giving you higher returns for the same percentage change.

The only difference with AMPL is that instead of looking at price, you're looking at market cap. That's it.

If you were to get in now, AMPL would need to go to 4.5B cap for you to get a 10x (by then, the price could be the exact same as it is today, only the supply would've changed.)

I do believe there is a massive amount of hype and the coin offers a simple yet novel solution to the stable coin problem, so it could definitely get there.

It is synthetic commodity with elastic supply. The price is stable and the market cap fluctuates based on demand. People always complain that too much of ethereum projects are trying to imitate real world finance, and not creating new innovations that eth allows. This is in that category.

They are about to get a lot of buzz because they are catching on to the liquidity mining fad. You can earn ampl by depositing ampl/eth uniswap tokens in the ampleforth geyser. Marketcap is 8.5 mil so still early days.
