depending on where you live, 100k is more than enough to either get you an entire house/apartment or at least the down payment for a mortgage on a house which can have it's monthly payments done by you renting some of the rooms and then using the money you'd pay on rent towards that monthly payment. You can snowball this.
As far as not working again, you could put some of the money towards a mutual fund or crypto after doing some research. I'd say security might be your biggest concern when investing and not necessarily HUGE gains as at 50 it's harder to turn life around if you fuck up.
