stockcharts is free and has been for the past 20 years. it's one of the oldest sites that just shows you a clean simple candle stick chart. they also have a brief tutorial section on how to read candles.

just backtest the basic shit i just told you on any ticker. look at pic rel. it was a sell when it was hitting or near the 200 and 50 MA lines. it was a buy when it was under those lines. this is of course entry level shit but it works. there's more sophisticated ways to pick your entry and sell points.
